                   Forever Albemarle

"The more choices government forces upon us,
The fewer choices we can make for ourselves"
                                     -Thomas Jefferson

Mission Statement

Forever Albemarle is an outgrowth of a coalition of landowners supporting the principles of private ownership. This organization recognizes the need to protect our human resources, including the principles of a free enterprise economy, which is predicated upon the foundational ideals of private ownership.
It is our belief that our national and local zeal to protect the environment, has resulted in hastily drawn and reactionary legislation that fails to adequately protect our human resources, paramount of which is our Constitutionally guaranteed right to be secure in the ownership of private property.
We also recognize that the line, which separates environmental protection from the invasion of property rights, is at best unclear, and in many situations inadequately defined. The purpose of this organization is to provide landowners with an effective voice in the ongoing debate that will define the line beyond which government may not intrude into the use of privately owned property.
Forever Albemarle is a non-partisan, non-profit organization devoted to the education of our residents of our unique and historical heritage and offer assistance to any to all residents of Albemarle County, to any individual owning land in any amount in Albemarle County, working to ensure liberty and justice for all!

Divided Voices will be heard as a murmur
United Voices will be heard as thunder

Our Point of View

As Forever Albemarle grows, it is important to stay focused upon the issues that necessitated our formation in the first place. Too often, it assumed that environmentalists maintain the ethical high ground, while those who advocate property rights occupy the 'low' land of 'uncouth economic gain,' 'profit,' and all the rest that goes with 'mere commercial life.' It is essential to declare here and now, that in the contest that joins us all, it is we, not the environmental zealots, who occupy the virtuous high ground. It is utterly imperative, therefore, not to give the other side an inch on that point. To do that we have to be clear about some of the particulars.
